Simple and Effective Weight Loss Tips
There is no more important factor contributing to good health than maintaining a healthy body weight. There are many things overweight individuals can do to address their problem and reduce their weight. What follows are a few guidelines and tips to encourage weight loss.
Of primary importance is developing a healthy dietary lifestyle; in other words, improve eating habits. Drastic changes are not necessary to achieve weight loss; many small changes are an effective, less traumatic way to accomplish weight reduction.
One example of a minor change is to drink one less soda pop per day and replace it with a healthy snack like a fruit or vegetable. Over time, replace all soda pop consumption with natural unsweetened juices, fruits and veggies. Not only will this simple change result in weight loss it will provide your body with essential nutrients as well.
Another helpful weight reduction/control habit to develop is eating smaller portions at every meal. Using smaller plates is a great way to trick the mind; consuming a small plate full of food rather than a huge plate full automatically reduces caloric intake providing you avoid second helpings.
Instead of eating empty calories like sugary, fat quick foods dine on nourishing, fresh foods such as vegetables, fruits, proteins and whole grains. Consuming foods high in fiber serve to satisfy the appetite for long periods. Avoid fast foods as they are generally high in fat and sugars that negatively impact weight and health. In general a good, healthy diet plan would include 3 servings of fruit and 4 servings of vegetables daily.
It is easy to become discouraged with weight loss if you constantly jump on the scale. Optimum weight reduction occurs at a slow rate (target 2 pounds a week for healthy weight loss) and daily weigh-ins can be totally disheartening. Experts suggest a weekly weigh-in so that progress is apparent and emotions are positive rather than negative at weigh –in time. Most dieters hit a “plateau” when it seems that the pounds will never come off. Don’t give up, be persistent. Stick to your plan and soon the pounds will start to shed again.
Look at your body as a fine tuned machine; fine tuned machine operate more efficiently when fueled with the best fuels. The human body is designed to operate at peak efficiency only when fed the most nutrient rich foods. Think of your stomach as a gas tank; when you continue to filling a gas tank when it is already full, gas is spilled. When your stomach is full and you continue to stuff it with food, the extra food is converted to fat and weight gain is the result.
Weight loss is possible for anyone if they are willing to make a few lifestyle changes.
